In the midst of environmental catastrophe, the imaginary of limitless progress collapses along with its so called technofixes. Attempts to reprogram the Earth are doomed to fail as they ignore the interdependencies of the planet and the urge for systemic change. How possible is it to empower planetary care through tech, on what scale, and with which technologies and infrastructures? Examining critical approaches found in contemporary artistic and curatorial practices, this lecture discusses initiatives and alternatives based on the logic of degrowth, the commons and local traditional knowledge.
