The burning issues today in the field of art are related to the necessity of de-growth, of moving away from the imaginary of progress. Demands for social and climate justice, decolonisation of culture, opposition to patriarchy are linked to the recognition of multiple worlds, needs and possibilities. Exhibitions, festivals, biennials, projects and publications highlight the need to resist exploitation and extraction. However, changes are also needed in the world of art and culture itself in terms of issues of inclusion and sustainability. But can the art world enter a process of de-growth and what would that mean?
