(abstract)
Bodies feel the changes in the atmosphere and respond to them. Not being just affected by the weather, they actually become one with it, they inhabit it and are inseparable from it. Their breathing is dependent on the metabolic processes of the body of the planet and on carbon cycles which however are being disrupted. Experiencing a generalised climate and energy crisis, we are invited to confront the consequences of overexploitation of the planetary resources, and to examine the solutions being introduced by technology. Can the earth’s metabolism be restored? How possible is it to restore the anthropogenic climate? This short essay addresses how human, more-than-human and planetary bodies are interdependent, and responds to the aforementioned questions by bringing in examples from the fields of artistic practice and research.
